Trundle Beds for Flexible Sleeping Space

A trundle bed adds a second sleep surface that rolls beneath the main bed when it is not in use. Browse Twin, Full and Queen options, including models sold with a trundle and beds with a selectable trundle configuration. Displayed price, pullout size, mattress requirements and storage features vary by product, so review the product page and selected configuration before ordering.

Choose the main bed, then match the trundle

A trundle gives you a separate lower bed that rolls out when you need another place to sleep. Choose the main bed and lower mattress together, then check how the complete setup fits your room with the trundle open. A larger main bed can have a narrower pullout, so check both sizes before choosing mattresses.

Compare two trundle configurations

These Beatrice beds offer a choice of a trundle or storage drawers. The examples below pair a Full main bed with a Full trundle, and a Queen main bed with a Full XL trundle. Corresponding Twin or Twin XL trundle options are also available on these product pages. Select the named size and configuration to see the price for the bed and pullout together. Mattresses are sold separately.

Mattress dimensions are nominal width × length. The approximate closed footprints use the listed outside frame measurements. Allow room for the open pullout and an access route as well. The main bed and trundle can have different mattress-thickness limits; use the limit for each selected sleeping surface.

Check the open layout before you order

Mark the main frame on the floor, then mark where the complete trundle will sit when open. Use the pullout’s outside frame dimensions and its intended position. Mattress width alone does not give you the full space needed.

Keep the open sleeping area and access route separate in your plan. This is a measuring guide, not a model-specific minimum room size or installation drawing.
  • Open the door and nearby drawers. Check the room in use, including closet doors and the furniture someone will need at night.
  • Keep a route to each sleeping surface. On a bunk bed, include the ladder or stairs. A ladder can occupy the same floor area the trundle needs to roll through; check the selected layout with the lower bed open.
  • Check height as well as mattress size. Follow the lower bed’s mattress limit. Bulky bedding can also affect closing, so do not force the trundle under the frame.

For the details of rollout, pop-up and storage designs, see Trundle Beds Explained. If you are comparing bunks, see how a trundle works with a bunk bed.

Another bed or more storage?

Start with how you want to use the space under the bed. In a Brockton XL customer review, one buyer described choosing storage drawers for one bunk and a trundle for another. That room-by-room choice is useful: where would you use another sleeping surface, and where would drawers make more difference?

Drawer sets and trundles are different configurations. Do not assume both are included or fit together. Some storage trundles can serve as either a bed or storage; check the selected model’s components and mattress requirements.

Before you select a configuration

Check the main mattress size, lower mattress size and thickness, included components, and price after selecting your options. A product photo may show an optional pullout. The two Beatrice examples above require you to select it; other beds include a trundle in the listed configuration.

For a platform-style alternative, you can also compare the Dodie White Full and Dodie White Queen beds, each with an optional trundle.

Talk with the team if you would like help comparing models. Send the bed link, the configuration you are considering, and your room measurements—including doors, nearby furniture and the side where the trundle will open.
