Built around a standard twin mattress, a twin daybed has a three-sided frame that serves as seating by day and a bed at night. What Types of Twin Daybeds Are Available?

• Twin daybeds with trundle: A trundle is a low pull-out frame on casters (small wheels) that rolls out beneath the twin daybed frame to hold a second twin mattress. • Twin daybeds with storage: A twin daybed with storage adds drawers, cubbies, or both beneath the mattress, giving your room space for clothes and bedding without a separate dresser. • Triple daybed: Three twin sleeping surfaces nest into the footprint of one daybed when closed and pull apart when you need them, which suits shared kids' rooms and frequent sleepovers. Allow floor space for all three beds when extended. The Adama triple daybed lists a 200 lb weight limit per bed and a recommended maximum mattress thickness of 6 inches.

• Bookcase daybeds: On select models, a full-length bookcase runs along the side of the frame, holding books, a lamp, and personal items, eliminating the need for a separate nightstand. Measure the bed's overall length and width, including the bookcase, and allow clearance for any drawers or trundle. Shelving along the long side adds depth to the bed's footprint.
• Loft-with-daybed combos: A queen loft bed pairs with a freestanding twin daybed below, giving your room two sleeping zones and a seating area. The daybed can also be positioned separately. On the Becks and Crystal models, the queen loft is rated at 2,000 lbs and the twin daybed below at 800 lbs. Children under age 6 should not use the upper loft bed. Follow the manufacturer's mattress-thickness limit and keep at least 5 inches of guardrail above the top of the upper mattress.

Frame materials vary by model and include solid birch, pine or rubberwood with veneers, and metal. Upholstered styles include finishes such as leatherette. Select birch models carry GREENGUARD Gold certification, a third-party certification for low chemical emissions.
