A full size loft bed elevates your sleeping area so the entire floor footprint beneath it stays open for a desk, storage, seating, or play space. At 54 inches wide by 75 inches long (137 cm × 190 cm), a full loft bed offers considerably more sleeping room than a twin while still fitting comfortably in a standard bedroom. Whether you're outfitting a teenager's room, a college apartment, or a compact guest space, our loft bed collection has a solid wood option built to last.
What Is a Full Size Loft Bed?
A full loft bed is a raised bed frame that positions the full size sleeping surface high off the floor — typically 60 to 70 inches (152 to 178 cm) above the ground for high loft models, or 40 to 55 inches (102 to 140 cm) for low loft versions. The elevated design creates usable space underneath: a built-in desk for studying or working from home, deep storage drawers, open shelving, or simply room for furniture you'd otherwise have no space for.
Unlike a bunk bed, a full loft bed has only one sleeping surface, making it the better choice when you need smart space planning for a single occupant without sacrificing the comfort of a full size mattress.
Types of Full Loft Beds
Our full size loft beds fall into several configurations. Understanding each type makes it easier to match the right bed to the room.
| Configuration | Best For | Key Feature |
|---|---|---|
| Full Loft Bed with Desk | Students, remote workers, teens | Built-in work surface under the loft; eliminates need for a separate desk |
| Full Loft Bed with Storage | Small bedrooms, shared rooms | Integrated drawers or shelves — often in stair steps or end units |
| Full Loft Bed with Stairs | Kids, adults, anyone preferring step access | Safer entry and exit than a vertical ladder; stair drawers add bonus storage |
| Low / Junior Full Loft Bed | Low-ceiling rooms, younger children | Platform sits 40–55 in. (102–140 cm) off the floor; fits rooms under 8 ft. |
| All-in-One Full Loft Bed | Maximum room efficiency | Combines sleeping, storage, desk, and stairs in one integrated unit |

Featured Full Size Loft Beds
Two of our most popular full loft bed models — one designed for lower-ceiling rooms, one for shoppers who want a high-loft solution with built-in stairs and storage.
A low-profile full loft bed ideal for rooms with standard or shorter ceilings. Features a 3-step staircase at the right end of the bed, with each step offering built-in storage. The low loft height keeps the sleeping surface closer to the ground while still opening up usable space below.
- Low loft height — fits rooms under 8 ft. (244 cm)
- 3-step staircase with integrated storage drawers
- Optional matching dresser/chest add-ons available
- Available in multiple finishes
- Free shipping
A high-loft full size bed with a full staircase and generous storage built right into the steps. Four stair drawers — including an extra-deep bottom drawer — make the most of every inch. The elevated platform leaves the full footprint below open for a desk, dresser, or seating area.
- High loft platform — maximum under-bed clearance
- 4-step staircase with 4 built-in storage drawers
- Extra-large bottom drawer for bulky items
- Solid wood construction
- Free shipping
Ceiling Height & Room Requirements
Before purchasing any full loft bed, measure your ceiling height and compare it to the bed's overall height plus the required clearance above the mattress. The CPSC recommends a minimum of 30 to 36 inches (76 to 91 cm) of clearance between the top of the upper mattress and the ceiling so the sleeper can sit up safely.
| Loft Type | Typical Platform Height | Min. Ceiling Height Needed |
|---|---|---|
| Low / Junior Loft | ~40–55 in. (102–140 cm) | 7 ft. / 84 in. (213 cm) or more |
| High Loft (standard) | ~62–70 in. (157–178 cm) | 8 ft. / 96 in. (244 cm) recommended |
