Choosing between a twin and a full comes down to two things: who sleeps here, and for how long. A twin-size bed keeps the floor open in a shared kids' room, and a full-size bed gives a growing teen or an overnight guest room to stretch out without the footprint of a queen-size bed.
This collection combines both sizes in platform, bookcase, sleigh, metal, themed, and daybed styles so you can compare twin and full-size beds in one collection.
Twin or Full: Which Size Fits Your Room?
Start with the person, not the mattress. Standard twin and full mattresses share the same length, so the decision comes down to width and how the room is used.
- Choose a twin when: The room is shared, the sleeper is young, or you want two beds with walking space between them. Two twin-size bed frames sleep two children side by side, and a single frame with a trundle tucked beneath does the same without bunk height.
- Choose a full when: One person will use the room for years, or the bed doubles as a guest bed. A full-size bed frame with a bookcase headboard keeps a teen's books and chargers within reach, and the extra width gives an adult guest more room. A full can feel snug for two adults, even when the frame supports their combined weight; check the selected model's published capacity.
- Choose a space-saver when: Floor space is the constraint. A twin daybed in a bonus room reads as a sofa between guests, and a bed that folds into a cabinet clears a studio floor during the day. Compare those layouts in our Murphy beds collection.
For younger kids, our theme beds collection offers character frames for the transition from a toddler bed. A sleeper who needs extra legroom should compare twin XL options. To narrow the grid by size, browse our twin beds or full-size beds pages, or see every size we carry in our beds collection.
What Should You Check Before Ordering?
Twin and full frames look alike in a thumbnail, so confirm these details on the listing:
- Underbed clearance: Drawers and trundles on select twin and full-size bed frames require open floor space beside the bed to pull out fully.
- Mattress thickness: Check the recommended mattress thickness for the bed and any optional trundle. The trundle may have a separate thickness limit. Find the right fit in our mattress collection.
- Weight capacity: Select models in this collection support up to 1,300 lbs, including the Marcus Twin Platform Bed and Marcus Full Platform Bed. Capacities vary by model and size, so check the published rating for your chosen configuration before ordering.
- Room and delivery fit: Measure the headboard wall against the frame's assembled width, and the room depth against its full length, including the headboard and footboard. Keep vents, outlets, and windows clear of a tall headboard, and check doorways and stair turns for delivery.
Use the filters at the top of this page to narrow the grid by finish, bed type, weight capacity, or price, or call our design team at (800) 976-0102 with your measurements to weigh a twin-size bed frame against a full-size bed for your room.
FAQs
How much bigger is a full-size bed than a twin?
A standard twin mattress measures about 38"W x 75"L, and a full (sometimes called a double) measures about 54"W x 75"L. A full mattress is approximately 16 inches wider than a twin, with the same standard length. Overall bed dimensions vary by design, so compare the assembled frame measurements and allow clearance for drawers or a trundle.
Do twin and full beds come with storage drawers?
Underbed drawers are available on select models, often as an optional set of two sold separately. Browse our twin beds with storage and full-size beds with storage collections for more drawer configurations.
Can I add a trundle under a twin- or full-size bed?
Select frames accept a storage or sleeping trundle, and on some full-size frames the trundle itself is twin-size. See which frames take one in our trundle beds collection.
Do these beds include a mattress?
Most standard bed frames require a separately purchased mattress. Select Murphy cabinet beds include a folding mattress. Check the listing's included items and mattress requirements before ordering. Select models include Euro-slats, a flexible slat system that holds the mattress directly, so those frames need no box spring.
