The stairs have 4 steps each with a built-in drawer for storage. If you need even more sleeping space for overnight guests, you can add a twin xl storage trundle under one or both of the queen bunk beds. The xl storage trundle comes with dividers and can also be used as a large storage drawer. Or for storage space, you can add a set of 2 under bed storage drawers, 2 storage cubbies with dividers, or 1 of each under one or both of the bunks. You can configure these to suit your needs.
